Off-Season Workouts Gets Ravens Lifted
Apparently, the new leadership regime of the Baltimore Ravens is bringing a new mentality when it comes to the weight room. The Baltimore Sun is reporting that head coach Jim Harbaugh is working with players in off-season workouts, which have an increased focus on weight training and conditioning.
“Guys are running sprints, they’re coming out bent over, sucking wind and throwing up,” director of college scouting Eric DeCosta said. “I’ve been very, very encouraged from what I’ve seen so far. I think you’re going to see a difference in this team in terms of strength and conditioning, particularly with the offensive and defensive lines. This kind of conditioning pays off in the long run. This can only help us later.”
So is that what the problem was last year? You certainly had me fooled. I thought that bad coaching and injuries were the culprit. And last I checked, that’s something every team goes through. Good for the Ravens and good for Harbaugh. The more shots at Brian Billick and his laid back style of coaching and management, the better.
