Pending league approval, the Baltimore Ravens and Terrell Suggs have reached an agreement that will make him the highest paid defens….I mean lineba…
The one year agreement will make him the highest paid something-or-other in the NFL.
In an unprecedented move, the Ravens have created a position for the part-time defensive lineman, part-time linebacker that will earn him a one-year tender of $8.5 million under the franchise tag. The move stems from a grievance filed by Suggs in March, which cited the Ravens for trying to franchise him as a linebacker instead of a defensive lineman, which would have cost the five-year veteran more than $800,000 dollars.
Obviously, Kordell Stewart is not thrilled by the news.
It was a numbers game from the jump, and both sides knew they wanted to get something done so that Suggs would be in a Ravens uniform for the 2008 NFL season. It shows class on Ozzie Newsome’s part to propose the deal, and for Suggs wanting to stick around in Charm City.
