You thought Baltimore had seen the last of Brian Billick? Think again. He’s now part owner of a local sports talk station, he’s writing a book, and he’s doing analysis for Fox Sports. And if the Baltimore Sun didn’t hate him so much, I would fully expect for him to get a running column in the paper.
And if you were watching the NFL’s opening night contest between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants, you saw his face as the new pitchman for Coors Light.
It’s the kind of thing that made Billick such a decisive figure in Baltimore’s sports culture. No matter how the team is doing, no matter how much responsibility he bears in a circumstance, you get the sense from him that he’s above it all. That as the smartest guy in the room, you can count on him to have the wisest and best perspective.
And by the way, he’s still getting paid by the Ravens.
It’s good to be king.
