No Willie Parker? No Casey Hampton? No Way!

If you were looking for all of the stars to come out in the Monday Night showdown between the Ravens and the Steelers next week, you’ll have to look further down the schedule. Running back Willie Parker and defensive tackle Casey Hampton will miss the game with a sprained knee and strained groin, respectively.

So if the Ravens when, does it really count as a full-fledged victory?

Without their best offensive weapon, and their second-best defensive weapon, the Steelers at less than full-power may not provide the test the Ravens are looking for as they attempt to sweep the AFC North. I originally believed that the game would be close, and that the passing game of the Steelers would keep it that way, but with no Willie Parker to set it up, this might turn into a full-fledged shellacking.

The Ravens’ defense has been looking forward to this game, and you have to think they’ll be disappointed that their mettle won’t be completely tested. Nevertheless, 3-0 will be a welcomed sight in Charm City come Tuesday morning.

If the Ravens when this game, it should still count the same way as if both parker and hampton were playing. When the steelers blew us out last year, we were missing both our starting coners and nobody said anything about that. So why should they now? If the Ravens win it will be because we were the better team, not because they had a few injuries.

And Big Ben has a hand injury but “won’t be limited in practice”…yeah, that sounds so inspiring. This won’t be pretty.

  • NestMinder

Agree with Benji 100%.  Those Squealer fans always tell us to stop whining about injuries when we try to defend the Ravens for that Monday night game last year.  We’ll see how quick they change their tune after Rashard “Fumblerooski” Mendenhall coughs it up 3 times and the Ravens stuff the ball down their throats without Casey “too fat to play” Hampton in the middle.  Revenge is looking more and more appetizing.

  • Jarrett

We can agree that the Ravens owe the Steelers a blowout, but unless the Ravens start 7-1 or 8-0, people are going to look at this game as a toss-up, and wonder if the Ravens could hang with a fully-stocked Steelers squad.

You guys keep forgetting you need to win the game before you can start talking right?  Also with the same approach didnt the steelers shut down the ravens offense as well that game?  Or did Ben just put up 35points and you guys stopped trying?  Regardless the better team will win. And as it usually goes Pittsburgh will take a lead in the AFC north.
