Its Pronounced "NAH-ta"

Haloti Ngata is one of the NFL’s premier defensive tackles. He is a force on the line for one of the NFL’s top defenses. He has been in the news; mainly for the time he punched Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas. Ngata has been in the league for 4 years now and yet reporters, radio analysts, and broadcasters can’t seem to get his name pronounced correctly. I have heard many variations, from “Nagta” to “Nagata”. I am hear to set things straight. Here is my message to the sports world. The name Ngata is pronounced “NAH-ta”. The “g” is silent. Its not there. Here is a list of more familiar words that have the “silent g”. I sincerley hope this helps: gnat, gnome, gnarled, gnarly, and gnaw. C’mon guys, get it right, please.

PS: Anita Marks, please stop saying “FLOCK-o”. It is pronounced “FLACK-o”
