Is Joe Flacco Being Overused?

AUTHOR: | IN: Blog News, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last season, as a rookie, almost everyone agreed that Joe Flacco had a great year.  He managed games, he got wins and he almost led he team to a Super Bowl.  All in his first season.  With that came big expectations, and this year he has filled them, minus the winning games part the last three weeks.  I just got to thinking, he’s passed the ball so many times this season, could we compare this to when a running back gets overused? Junior Year: Delaware-264 completions out of 417 attempts.  That’s a lot of attempts for an FCS quarterback who is [...]

Around The Blogosphere

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Again, sorry about the lack of posts.  It’s been three weeks of tons of work, computer issues and a bad internet connection. Here’s a collection of links around the Ravens blogosphere this week. Right Off Russell has a post reacting to Jamison Hensley’s playoff projection and what it will take for the Ravens to hit the magic 10-win plateau. NFP (National Football Post) posted an article written by Aaron Wilson about Elvis Dumervil’s talent and the difficulty the Ravens will have with him. I’m going to be incredibly efficient and link out to some links, from FootBaltimore, which has the [...]

Week 7: Around The NFL

AUTHOR: | IN: Games, NFL, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

With an ever-so boring bye week upon us, this post will replace the weekly preview and predictions and address what each game means to the Ravens. Casey here.  If you haven’t noticed this is also our weekly Predictions post. Joe beat me to the punch and put his picks in first this week. Mine will be in bold next to his, there are also the ones that are correct. An asterisk symblozes a difference. Green Bay vs Cleveland-Since Cleveland is struggling so much, this game doesn’t matter to us division-wise.  The only positive we can gain out of this game [...]

A Look Ahead

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

As of now the Baltimore Ravens are 3-3 heading into their week 7 bye. We had three dominant performances to open the season, and looked so strong that in ESPN’s Week 3 Power Rankings, the Purple Birds topped the list. However, now the Ravens have lost three tear jerking games consecutively. Our playoff hopes are very much so alive, and to put that into perspective here is a look into the remaining games for our Baltimore Ravens: Week 8- Denver Broncos- As of now the Broncos are undefeated, and they are going to be the favorites in this game. Coming [...]

Need a Tissue?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Talk about heartbreakers. Three weeks in a row the Ravens have pulled ‘Plaxicos’ and shot themselves. Penalties (235 yards on 25 penalties in the past 3 games), missed field goals (obviously, I am talking about Hauschka’s missed 44 yard game winner against the Vikings) and some questionable calls have killed us. Throughout these first 6 weeks of the 2009 season, we have learned a lot about the Baltimore Ravens. We are now a passing team. The Ravens have run the ball 132 times, 12th in the league, while they have passed the ball 185 times, 7th in the league. Why? [...]

Week 6: Ravens at Vikings Preview

AUTHOR: | IN: Games, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Opening Thoughts This is a must-win for the Ravens.  It’s a really-badly-want-to-win for the Vikes.  It’s going to be intense.  You can bet that the Ravens defense wants to prove to the league and to their fans that they are still as good as they can be, but it will have to be seen if they can actually deliver on that.  The key to winning today’s game will be the defenses.  The Ravens need to contain the Viking’s more than capable attack and keep Adrian Peterson out of the end zone.  They need to force mistakes from Brett Favre, because [...]

Stover to the Colts

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Ravens | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Matt Stover, the awesome ex-kicker for our Baltimore Ravens, has found a new home for his kicking prowess. At the age of 41 Stover will enter his 20th season in the NFL as an Indianapolis Colt. He is replacing Adam Vinateri while he undergoes arthroscopic surgery in his leg (out for 2-8 weeks). Stover, due to his not so strong leg will handle field goals and extra points while punter Pat McAfee deals with booming it for kickoffs. Stover gave us 19 great years, and compiled 1,944 points for us. When our offense was less than average, and couldn’t get [...]

Ebony Bird Unbiased Power Rankings

AUTHOR: | IN: Games, NFL, Ravens, Recaps | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The season is 5 games young, and I meant to do this post last week for a quarterly update, but this works too. So, the Broncos are 5-0. The Titans 0-5. Detroit won a game and Cincinnati is unfortunately giving us a run for our money. If you have missed all of this, come on out of your shell and join us for a great rest of the season. Here are once again the rules to how I make my Power Rankings: As the title suggests, they are completely unbiased. If the Ravens deserve to be #1 they will be. [...]
