Several Ravens Honored

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: NFL, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today, a total of five Ravens were honored with AFC Pro Bowl accolades, and Dawan Landry with a prestigious award.  Landry was voted by his teammates to be the Ravens’ recipient of The Ed Block Courage Award.  When you think about it, there’s really no other guy who should’ve gotten the award.  Landry had a severe neck injury last season that scared the nuggets out of everybody when it happened.  Landry’s effort during rehab and lack of fear hitting the field again is a truly great feat and he deserves the respect and honor this award contains.
In addition to Landry’s [...]

Troy Smith Demands Trade on Twitter

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

This is directly taken from FanSided’s NFL News & Rumors site. Very interesting development with the team.

Technology has made it easy on everyone these days, with phones that do almost anything and news at our fingertips 24/7 thanks to the power of the internet.
That notion apparently isn’t lost on Baltimore quarterback Troy Smith, who took trade requests to a new high (or low depending on how you see it) today with a post to his agent’s Twitter account stating in no uncertain terms that they have demanded that Smith to be traded this off-season. Smith is currently stuck on the Ravens bench behind [...]

How It Looks

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Games, NFL, Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

First off, I’d like to say sorry for the lack of posts over the past what has it been, a week?  I’m out of the country, the internet connection has been terrible and I haven’t been at a computer very often.  Being 5 hours ahead in England really puts you out of touch with the NFL, and at a huge disadvantage of watching your team’s biggest game of the season.  I managed to catch a few streams, and followed the rest on GameTracker. It seemed like they were never really in the game.  If not for Ray Rice, the offense [...]

Sunday Means Everything

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

On Sunday, starting at 1 PM at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Baltimore Ravens’ season will be decided.  A roller-coaster ride with lots of up and downs and upside-downs will stop on Sunday.  If they win, they’re in. No questions, no scenarios, if the Ravens win on Sunday, they’re in the playoffs.  If they lose, it’s pretty much done.  Yes, there’s still a remote chance they could get in if the Broncos only win one or none of their next two games and some other teams lose, but if they lose, the Steelers take their spot as a Wild [...]

Lardarius Webb May Be Out For Season

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Aaron Wilson posted on Twitter that rookie cornerback Lardarius Webb may be out for the season. Accoring to Wilson, “the team isn’t optimistic”, and Ray Lewis, being the diagnosis expert he is, also believes that Webb may not see the field again in his inaugural campaign.  On the season, Webb has 32 tackles, a sack and 6 pass deflections, along with a big kick return TD against the Broncos.  The two-time All-American out of Nicholls State filled in valiantly for Fabian Washington after he suffered a torn ACL.  This would be a big loss for the already depleted Ravens secondary.

Week 15? More Like Week Awesome

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Games, NFL, Ravens, Recaps | COMMENTS: None Yet

These week 15 games have been awesome, in all aspects, for the Ravens.  Not only did they destroy a mildly mediocre team (more on that later), as I’m typing this, the teams that were their main competitors for playoff spots (Jacksonville, New York Jets, Miami and Denver) all lost, and the Steelers are losing by 6 with a minute remaining.  Now at 8-6, and owning the tiebreaker against the Broncos, the Ravens have the #5 seed if the season ended right now.  Even better, the Bengals lost, so there’s a more than unlikely chance that they could still capture the [...]

Snow and Injuries: Bears vs Ravens Preview

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Games, Previews | COMMENTS: None Yet

OPENING THOUGHTS
It’s pretty common knowledge that the Ravens need to win this game to stay alive.  It’s so surprising that even with the way they’ve played this whole season, they could still reach the playoffs without that much craziness happening.  Today’s obstacle is the Bears, led by Jay “Turnover” Cutler.  Matt Forte, who was poised to have a huge output his sophomore season, has been nothing special, and fast-as-lightning Devin Hester is likely out today.  Add their crazy journey to Baltimore to their struggles, and you have a “team in turmoil”, as some analysts might like to say. Oddly enough, [...]

Ravens All-Decade Team

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Although the Ravens’ history in Baltimore is one of the shortest in the NFL, they’ve played just as many years in this decade as any other team.  With the first 10 years of the new millennium coming to an end, we’ll take a look at the best Ravens at each position since 2000.

Rules/Guidelines:

The player must have worn the purple and black for two full seasons, or must be in their second with the team this season, so Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, etc. would count.
The two full seasons must be consecutive.
The team is based off the player’s whole body of work [...]

Bears Hoping To Arrive Sunday Morning

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Games, NFL, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The Bears have been delayed in their journey to Baltimore.  Their Friday night flight was cancelled, and now with this massive amount of snowfall, it’s unlikely they’ll get here during the day today. ESPN has an article chronicling their delay, and according to several local reports, they’re hoping to arrive very early tomorrow morning for the 4:15 kick-off time.
Although nobody has reported or confirmed this, I believe that the Bears might try to get a flight from Chicago to the Ohio/West Virginia area today, and try to get another quick flight to Baltimore from that location during a break in [...]

It’s Gonna Be A White Sunday

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Games, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

By now, you’ve definitely heard the news that the Bears-Ravens kick-off for Sunday has been moved back from 1:05 to 4:15.  Even if there is a foot of snow, the game will be played.  All major roads leading to the stadium will be plowed and salted, and the game will happen. Even if the stadium isn’t full, the game is sold out and will not be blacked out on TV.  Everything is going to happen as planned.  The Bears’ equipment arrived today and the team may have also arrived already.  Everything will happen, so don’t freak out. If you can’t [...]
