Ravens 7-Round Mock Draft

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Although about 95% of the focus of Ravens draft coverage thus far has been on their first round pick, some of the team’s best players have come from late rounds in the draft.  Pro Bowler Le’Ron McClain was a 4th-round pick, Dawan Landry was a 6th-round pick, and several great Ravens were undrafted free agents (Bart Scott, Adailus Thomas just to name two.)  Here’s my Ravens-specific 7-round projection:
Notes: Asterisk (*) means that the pick is compensatory, and for some odd reason, the “School” box in the table for Jared Veldheer isn’t working. His school is the Division II school Hillsdale, [...]

EbonyBird.com’s Ravens Combine Watch List

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As the workouts begin and continue in the NFL Scouting Combine, here at EbonyBird.com we’ll be watching prospects who are legitimate contenders to become Ravens participating in the Combine.  Many are players that we’ve heard speculation about, but some are just gut instincts.  Mostly, these are first round prospects, but as we hear more, we will add more mid-draft prospects. This is an open list that will be updated many times, and non-Combine participants will be added after the event in Indianapolis is over.  Each entry goes: Player-Position-School-Height-Weight, and then will be updated with times, notable results, et cetera.  This [...]

The Internet-Wide Ravens Mock Draft: 2/28

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Blog News, Draft Prospects, NFL, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Ravens have the 25th pick in the first round of April’s draft, and until then, thousands will speculate about who will be selected in that spot.  In this post, which will become a weekly feature on Sunday, I will go through all the functional updated mock drafts in the past week on DC Pro Sports Report’s Database. I’ll break the picks down in a variety of categories, and we can see how certain players draft stock is rising and falling, and how the Ravens’ projected pick changes over two months.  So without further ado, the first edition of “The [...]

Terrell Owens To The Ravens? Adam Schefter Thinks So.

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: NFL, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

And the saga known as Terrell Owens’ professional career continues.  ESPN’s Adam Schefter just went on Sportscenter within the last five minutes and discussed two teams linked to Owens.  The Cincinatti Bengals, and you guessed it, your Baltimore Ravens.  The Bengals are still the first team mentioned in the TO conversation, just because of Chad Ochocinco’s lobbying efforts to get the 36-year old egomaniac in Stripes. Schefter immediately shot this down (for about the 9,873,412,342,761,087th time) saying: “The Bengals want to get younger at wide receiver not older.” Naturally, as the case is for every single receiver on the market this [...]

Site Issues?

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Blog News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Happy Saturday to all, how about that Terps win tonight?  This post will be a quick one just because some concerns have come up.  I’ve been notified by a few people that certain recent posts have not been showing up when they visit the site.  I hadn’t been having any trouble, so I blew off the comments as those people’s web browsers acting up.
Just now, I logged on and the latest post, “Cornerbacks That Won’t Be Ravens” was not in the sidebar of posts.  If this isn’t working for you, click here to view the post, and I’ll look into [...]

Cornerbacks That Won’t Be Ravens

AUTHOR: trippc | IN: Draft Prospects, Free Agency, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Dunta Robinson, Leigh Bodden, even Nnamdi Asomugha; these are some of the corners that Ravens fans are clamoring for this off-season. However none of them seem like options.
Let’s start with the most talented and thus most expensive “option” in Nnamdi Asomugha, who isn’t even a free agent. Rumors out of Oakland indicate that Al Davis wants to trade the second best corner in the league, for reasons unbeknownst to sane people. However the Raiders will want a stockpile of draft picks and probably some other players. If we know one thing about Ozzie Newsome, its that he values his draft [...]

Franchise Tag Recap

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: NFL, Offseason | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today was the deadline for teams to place franchise tags on players.  The biggest stories of the day:

The Carolina Panthers did not place the tag on Julius Peppers. This mean’s he’ll be a UFA and can sign with any team.  The Falcons, Eagles and possibly Redskins are considered frontrunners right now.
The Stinkers agreed on a long-term deal with stud defensive tackle Casey Hampton. They instead used their tag on kicker Jeff Reed.  Seeing a tag placed on a kicker is an oddity in the NFL, so of course Pitt just had to do it, the jerks they are.
Leave it to [...]

HUGE Updates!

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Blog News, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is a lame excuse for a post, but it’s gonna have some blog updates. Regular content will start up again tomorrow and hopefully this string of incredibly busy days doesn’t continue.  As you’ve read, the NFL Combine starts next week.  We’ll have extensive coverage of Combine performances and how the effects certain performances will have on draft stock.  That should be fun for theories, opinions and debate, so be sure to check back regularly next week.
Also, the big update and the main reason for this post is this: The site will be getting a new design, sometime in the [...]

NFL Draft Combine Starts This Week

AUTHOR: Joe Barnes | IN: Blog News, Draft Prospects, NFL, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Starting Wednesday with the players’ measurements (height and weight), the annual NFL Draft Combine will feed the hunger of fans of the NFL Draft for information about prospects.  After Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are used to do measurements, interviews and Wonderlic tests, among other practices, the players are thrown into very common football drills.  The 40-yard dash, vertical leap, broad jump and bench press are just a few of the several exercises that hundreds of scouts, General Managers, Head Coaches and other NFL personnel will see this year’s top prospects taking part in.
Here on EbonyBird.com, we’ll have extensive coverage of [...]
