Ravens 2010 Preseason Schedule

AUTHOR: | IN: Games, NFL, Popular, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Today, the Ravens preseason schedule for next season was released. Date Opponent Home/Away TV 8/12 Carolina Panthers Home ESPN 8/20 or 8/21 Washington Redskins Away TBD* 8/27 or 8/28 New York Giants Home TBD* 9/2 St. Louis Rams Away TBD* As you can see, the team will open up their year on National TV. Coach Harbaugh says it gives the team “a little more incentive during training camp” so that they don’t embarrass themselves with millions of people watching. The reason I put an asterisk (*) next to the TBD games is because I’d assume they’ll be on WBAL (Channel [...]

Draft Talk: 3/31

AUTHOR: | IN: Blog News, College Football, Draft Prospects, NFL, Offseason, Ravens, Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As players finish their Pro Days at their colleges, private workouts with teams begin.  The Ravens have reportedly had 4 players this week come to visit or work out at their facilities, and at least one more is probably coming. Arizona linebacker Vuna Tuihalamaka “visited” the team on Monday. According to Aaron Wilson, the 6’2″, 230 pound linebacker from Arizona ran a 4.65 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. If the Ravens drafted him, we’d definitely need some nickname so that we wouldn’t copy and paste his name every time. In his same article, Wilson mentions that Syracuse receiver Mike [...]

Jared Gaither Rumors

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Offseason, Ravens, Rumors | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

A story that I think has been talked about quite a bit this offseason, but not totally understood, is the Jared Gaither saga. In basic terms, because the Ravens put a first-round tender on him, if any team thinks that he’s worth giving up their first round pick for, they can go right ahead and sign him.  Because teams value their first round picks more than any sane person could imagine, the team is desiring a second-round selection in a trade for the 6’9″ tackle. Gaither is an incredible physical specimen with tons of upside. At 6’9″ and 340 pounds, [...]

Who Will Be Kicking For the Ravens Next Year?

AUTHOR: | IN: Free Agency, NFL, Offseason, Popular, Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

It’s a really big question.  With confidence in Billy Cundiff seemingly disappearing as some veteran kickers become available, it’s a good time to ask.  The two veterans that have been linked most to the Ravens are Bengals’ Shayne Graham and free agent Neil Rackers. I have to admit that Jamison Hensley beat me to the punch on the topic, but I’d like to add some more thoughts and not focus on Jay Feely as a candidate. As a side note, some of Hensley’s stats are terribly wrong. Billy Cundiff is on the team. As of today, he is the starting [...]

2nd Annual No Logo Needed Mock Draft

AUTHOR: | IN: Blog News, Draft Prospects, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Sorry for the two-day layoff, first off. Internet-wide mock is coming this weekend, and hopefully we’ll get a new 1st round mock. Now onto the post: For the second year in a row, I was approached by Don Delco, the man behind the genius of No Logo Needed, one of, if not the best Cleveland Browns blogs out there. Not that that’s hard to do or anything, being that absolutely nobody is insane enough to want to blog about the Browns. All kidding aside, Don has done a great thing the last two seasons. He creates a “Mock Draft Among [...]

The Ravens’ Ever-Changing First Round Draft Possibilities

AUTHOR: | IN: Draft Prospects, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

With the Cory Redding signing, things become interesting regarding the Ravens’ first round selection in April. Again.  After acquiring Anquan Boldin, the thought was that a receiver would not be the logical choice.  Immediately after Justin Bannan and Dwan Edwards signed with other teams, the Ravens blogosphere was abuzz with talk about a defensive lineman. Will Redding change it again? Let’s take a step back. Before the Boldin deal, the Ravens selecting a receiver was all but a foregone conclusion. Ozzie Newsome even said that they would find a “playmaker” in the first round.  People are forgetting that this was [...]

Cory Redding is a Raven

AUTHOR: | IN: Free Agency, Offseason, Popular, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Ravens have signed former Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Cory Redding to a two year deal. A former University of Texas standout, Redding’s 6-foot-4 292 pound frame makes him an ideal 5 technique defensive tackle. He would fill a huge hole left by the departure of Justin Bannan to Denver and Dwan Edwards to Buffalo. While Redding is a possible starter at DE next season, look for the Ravens to continue to replenish the defensive line rotation through April’s draft.

Terrence Cody to Work Out With Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: Blog News, Draft Prospects, Offseason, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Terrence Cody, the defensive tackle out of Alabama, will be working out with the Ravens as they consider their draft options.  After losing starting defensive end Dwan Edwards and backup defensive tackle Justin Bannan to Free Agency, the team is looking for some defensive line help in the draft.  Cody has been thought of as a very good 3-4 nose tackle, and was a huge reason for the success Nick Saban’s Alabama defense has had the last two seasons. A lot of, if not most of, the discussion about Cody has been his weight.  Cody was over 400 pounds in [...]

Ravens Have Shot at Playing on Thanksgiving Night

AUTHOR: | IN: Games, NFL, Previews, Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

I don’t know whether this is supposed to be good or bad news to most people, but the Ravens may be playing on national television on the night of Thanksgiving Day.  Jamison Hensley brought this up today, saying that because the Jets are hosting the evening game on Turkey Day, the Ravens have a 1/7 chance of getting to play that game. The kick-off would be at 8:20 PM ET, most likely being televised on NFL Network, and would be in the Jets’ new stadium. Hensley mentions that the Jets’ other home opponents are Buffalo, Miami, New England, Cincy, Houston, [...]

Dwan Edwards Signs With Bills

AUTHOR: | IN: Popular, Ravens | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

According to reports, Dwan Edwards has signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Edwards, the defensive end out of Oregon State, has signed an undisclosed contract after his visit with the Buffalo Bills.  This is contrary to some reports that say he left Buffalo without a contract.  The surprising, sudden move makes this report seem illegitimate to me, as Edwards himself said he was having trouble signing with a team. The reason I’m posting this, however, is because of Adam Schefter.  Schefter is usually the first guy to report something, and he reports [...]
