Reports Say Ravens Pick Is Now A Two-Horse Race

Many reports coming out very recently suggest two players for the Ravens at #25 right now.  Barring a trade down to the second round, which is a very, very legitimate possibility, the two players most “experts” are saying the Ravens will consider are Jermaine Gresham and Terrence Cody.

  • Jermaine Gresham has been my pick for a long, long time. I think there was only one week before the Combine where I didn’t put Gresham in my mock draft. My confidence may have been ignorance, because there’s been very little from the Ravens’ end of things saying that they were highly interested in the Oklahoma tight end. A guy who I think would make a great immediate impact, and would usher in a new era at tight end for the Ravens, Gresham is a great prospect.
  • Terrence Cody is an interesting case. “Mount Cody”, as he was called throughout college at Alabama, has lost an incredible amount of weight for the Draft, silencing the doubters saying he was too “chunky” for the NFL. There’s been some rumors that he’s a bit of a slacker, but thinking logically, is that very likely? Surviving and being the star on Nick Saban’s team is tough to do, and I can’t think of a better coach to prepare a player for the NFL. Adding Cody would let Haloti Ngata move back to the outside of the line and would help compensate for the loss of both Dwan Edwards and Justin Bannan.

Adam Schefter has reported that the Browns are interested in trading into the first round, probably  to acquire a quarterback. The Ravens may be the biggest contender to trade the pick. More on that to come.
