Mockery Of All The Mocks
Now that we are in the final few days leading up to the 2010 NFL Draft, prognosticators and average Joe’s (not a slight at my wonderful partner, Mr. Joe Barnes) all across America have submitted their final Mock Drafts. My job is to sort through these piles upon digital piles of Mel Kiper Jr. wannabes and present you with the creme de la creme of the mock draft world. Of course, your first source should be the EbonyBird.com Mock Draft tab above, but after that where do you go? Well, actually that’s easy. Go straight to the new mock draft at CBSSports.com [...]
CBS Live Mock Draft!!!
Hello all. Starting tomorrow at 1 PM EST will be CBS’ 2010 Live NFL Mock Draft. Why is it so special this year? Because FanSided is the mock draft. All of the FanSided NFL bloggers are making their first and second round projections, being unveiled live on CBSSports.com. I am picking on the Ravens’ behalf, so be sure to check out my selections. It’s an incredibly exciting event for the FanSided Network and for The Ebony Bird, so your support is greatly appreciated. It’s an honor to be featured on CBS for me and for the network, so enjoy and [...]

Trading Down?
Ozzie Newsome will trade up a few picks for guys like Haloti Ngata or Michael Oher, but this year it may make more sense to trade down. I propose this for two reasons, for one we only have five picks, three of which are in round five or later. The other reason would be that more than likely some of the players that we may be coveting will likely be gone. Fan favorite Brandon Graham should be long gone, Sergio Kindle, Jared Odrick, Kyle Wilson and Jermaine Gresham will likely be gone as well. There should be some suitors for [...]
Full NFL Schedule Being Released Next Tuesday
In an email I received, the NFL attached a press release about when and how the NFL schedule will be released. Here’s a small bit of the release: For fans who want to see their team’s entire schedule immediately, NFL.com is the place to visit on Tuesday at 7:00 PM ET. NFL.com will be the first site to have the complete team-by-team and weekly schedules of all 256 regular-season games, listing opponents, sites and times. NFL.com will include a new interactive application giving fans a voice through fan forums, rating the schedules and answering poll questions. From the sound of [...]
The New FanSided Sports Blog
FanSided, our parent network, who has given us this snazzy new design, is embarking on a new, very, very exciting project, which I’m honored to be a part of. After a successful run with a small staff in 2009, the FanSided Sports Blog will relaunch in full force, with a staff in the area of 15 writers. These writers are all fellow FanSided bloggers, with certain bloggers covering certain topics. As a member of the staff, I will be doing something off of my usual beat. I will be writing sports satire articles for the blog, whether they’re similar to [...]
Intense Ravens News Session: 4/13
A lot of Ravens news is swirling around the web today. Seems like a good day to get back in the posting loop for me. Here’s the main stories, with my commentary. The team doesn’t expect they will sign a placekicker before the draft. The fact that Ozzie Newsome doesn’t “expect” to sign a kicker makes me a bit apprehensive. Is he really that indecisive right now? He doesn’t know whether he wants a kicker or not? He doesn’t know what it will take to get a kicker and who will be available before/during/after the draft? It confuses me a [...]
Ravens Draft Talk: 4/9
Big news today on the draft front for the Ravens, specifically in the first round. Two highly-regarded prospects, both being projected to be going in the first round are being pursued by the Ravens. The two players in question are Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson, who has been soaring up draft boards, and Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant, who’s been doing quite the opposite. In addition, local product Edward Morton-Green out of Morgan State is planning to visit with the Ravens next week. There’s not a ton to say about him and his visit, so here’s the article at [...]
What Are The Chances?
With the NFL Draft only two weeks away, Ravens fans are probably just as confused as to whom Ozzie Newsome may select with pick 25 as they were two months ago. It seems as every “expert” has a different opinion of who should be selected and who will be available. However, most agree that it should be “the best player available,” which has been the mantra in Baltimore for some time now. With that being the case we decided to take a look at the most likely possibilities, and ranked them as such. 1. Jermaine Gresham TE (Oklahoma) Gresham seems [...]
Gaither Trade Talks Were Lies… Or Were They?
After tons of speculation, Tweeting, placing bets on where he’ll end up if he leaves, and just general insanity, it now looks like one of the biggest stories of the Ravens’ offseason has been resolved. Or not. Mike Preston has reported that the trade talks were just a motivational tactic to get Jared Gaither to report to the team’s voluntary workouts. (I linked out to PFT because Preston’s article is full of other unimportant details.) While Iron Mike says that this was the main reason behind the talks, he also says that if “the price is right”, then the team [...]
