M&T Bank Stadium Hosts A Successful Championship Weekend
I’ve been hush this weekend because I have enjoyed three great days of lacrosse at M&T Bank Stadium, where 3 NCAA Men’s Champions were determined. I’m not a lacrosse player or a huge fan, but I like the sport, and after going in 2007, I’ve learned that the experience of seeing a sport played at the highest level for three straight days is pretty cool. While it was incredibly hot, the stadium (and new turf) did Baltimore proud. The turf looked good, but it seemed very slippery, as the fans witnessed about double or triple the average amount of falls [...]
Ravens Will Show NFL Red Zone At Games
Today’s news is a bit flat, as the best story we can find is that the Ravens will be showing NFL Red Zone at the stadium, on their new 24×100 foot HD screens. They are following the Patriots’ lead, and the screens will be pretty much everywhere in the stadium. It’ll be like Nationals Park on steroids. Oh but no big deal, it’s only 500 screens being installed. All showing the same exact channel. And now that sentence has set the tone for the whole article. Believe me, it gets better, just wait. I’ve managed to turn the lamest daily [...]
Position Outlook: RB
After a banner sophomore season for starter Ray Rice, where he was a Pro Bowler and was 2nd in the NFL in total yards, the running back corps is looking to build on a great 2009. With Willis McGahee hopefully being healthy and in shape to start the season, the Ravens will try to use that 1-2 punch as successfully as they did in the ’09 campaign. Also looking for playing time and a spot on the team at the position are returnees Jalen Parmele and Matt Lawrence, and undrafted free agent Curtis Steele (Memphis). Position Outlook: QB
With free agency very quiet, the Draft over and the trade market being pretty much dead, the Ravens’ roster is starting to take shape, and we can start to see who will be where. As we get closer to the summer where Training Camp and the like begins, we’ll take a look at each position, starting with QB and ending with the long snapper. We’ll assess the strengths, weaknesses and see how the Ravens stack up with the rest of the league at that specific position. For the first installment of the series, we’ll take a look at what most [...]
Passing Camp Has Begun
As teams just start to recover from the Draft, well, they don’t really recover at all. OTAs (Organized Team Activities) have started this week all over the NFL, and the Ravens have turned their first OTA into a full-blown passing camp. With players from every position at the OTA, not just QBs, receivers and DBs, you can bet that this OTA will hold a lot of weight with the coaching staff as to who will make the team and what their role might be. It may be hard to believe. Like three posts in two weeks, one or two in the last week, this has been the slowest the blog has been since I took over. Part of it is a lack of news, most of it is that everybody is beyond busy, but let’s not make excuses. The news for today: The Ravens have added two new players that will be featured in their secondary. Aaron Wilson gives you the scoop in his post on NFP. The two signees are Travis Fisher, a cornerback with 8 years of NFL experience, which include stints [...]
Gaither’s MRI Results Still Unknown
Jared Gaither injured his foot, as I had noted on Monday, and nobody’s quite sure of what he did, how he did it, or the severity of it. What we do know is that it’s legitimate, he says he’s not faking it, and that he received an MRI. The MRI happened yesterday, there was no news yesterday. As has been the constant factor with everything Gaither, the news still hasn’t come out. While the MRI is a legitimate case, and we should be fairly worried about Gaither’s foot, this injury is just fueling the fires of everyone who thinks he’s [...]
News & Notes: 5/10/10
Let me apologize for the last few weeks. I’ve totally failed at posting daily like I usually do. I was counting on the Q&A to produce some content while I was very busy, but WordPress has decided to be persistently frustrating in not letting me format the questions and answers correctly. I’m working on it and hopefully the errors can be fixed this week. Anyways, let’s get to the task on hand. Lots of Ravens news in the last few days, most notably the Jared Gaither situation. Along with Gaither, we have the first minicamp ending and Terrell Suggs making [...]
Gaither Rumors Heat Up Again
After much speculation that offensive tackle Jared Gaither would be dealt before the NFL Draft, fans were either disappointed or relieved when it never happened. However after Michael Oher was placed on the left side in today’s mini-camp, the rumors have sparked again, and apparently the Bills are the most interested party. Dallas may be another possible landing spot for the 26 year old tackle out of Maryland, who will be a free agent next season. With Haloti Ngata, Joe Flacco, Ray Rice and Michael Oher looking like they will demand big contracts in the next few years, Gaither looks [...]
