Dawan Landry To Be Reunited With Ravens

During this year’s free agency frenzy, it became clear early that Dawan Landry wasn’t going to be returning to Baltimore. Frankly, I though the Ravens would be in big trouble without him. Luckily for the Ravens, Tom Zbikowski stepped up and Bernard Pollard became a key off season acquisition that eased the transition.

Landry will always have a soft spot in my heart. He was one of the unsung heroes of the Ravens defense for the past few years and helped hold the secondary together. While he won’t wow you with Ed Reed like plays, he’ll make the sure tackle when you need him to.

Landry signed a five year deal with Jacksonville this off season, and will now step into the shadow of his former team. John Harbaugh shared his feelings with Derrick Mason after he faced the Ravens in a Texan uniform last week and I think the same should be said this week. While the colors on his jersey may be different, Landry is “always a Raven.”

Dick's Sporting Goods presents "Hell Week":

Landry has not been the same since his massive stinger several years ago, and who can blame him? But the NFL leaves little room for empathy and Dawan’s declining coverage and tackling skills spelled his doom as a Raven.

But he was one of the good guys and we fans can show the empathy that the team cannot and root for him to do well (starting next week, of course) as a Jag.

Couldn’t agree with you more. It’s sad to see a player on the decline like that but his time in Baltimore was finished. To quote the most cliche sports quote of all time: “It’s not personal, it’s business.” I’ll excited to see Landry play against the Ravens and I’ll be cheering him on.
