Seven Ravens Named To AFC Pro Bowl Team

facebooktwitterreddit

Seven Baltimore Ravens have been selected to head to Hawaii for the 2012 pro bowl. While this is a great honor, we hope that those seven will be in Indianapolis preparing for the Super Bowl that week rather than catching some rays in Hawaii. So continue reading to see which seven were selected…

MLB Ray Lewis – 13th Selection

Some may say that Ray Lewis does not deserve to be on this list and to be honest, I agree. Ray Lewis missed a lot of time due to injury and hadn’t done a whole lot before that. A lot of people see “Ray Lewis” on their ballot and check him off because of what he’s done in his career rather than this year. Nonetheless, it is impressive to see him still on the field playing at a high level. He’s definitely a special player who has kept the Ravens D intact since its inception.

S Ed Reed – 8th Selection

The same can be said about Ed Reed. While he has had a great year, it seems that he gets the nod each year for what he’s done in the past. The three interceptions in week one got him off to a fast start but he has slowed down since then. Reed has still made some great plays this year and is deserving of the spot.

OLB Terrell Suggs – 5th Selection

T-Sizzle has been terrorizing quarterbacks all season and doesn’t look to stop now. If making the pro bowl isn’t enough, Suggs is also in many people’s minds as the defensive player of the year. Don’t expect this star to burn out anytime soon.

DT Haloti Ngata – 3rd Selection

Ngata has been killing it all season. He gets double teamed on almost every play and still makes tackles in the backfield. His fearsome presence in the middle allows for others to shine on the defense and he looks to remain the best defensive tackle in the league for years to come.

RB Ray Rice – 2nd Selection

Ray Rice has come into the year with great expectations and has lived up to them. Besides a few games where he wasn’t given many touches, Rice has been piling up yards both in the air and on the ground. Ray Rice continues to be the Ravens workhorse and best offensive weapon.

FB Vonta Leach – 2nd Selection

#LeachToTheBeach has worked. The hard hitting fullback has led Ray Rice to daylight this whole season and unanimously remains as the league’s best fullback. Leach is one of the last true fullbacks in the league and continues to be a force to reckoned within the league.

RG  Marshal Yanda – 1st Selection

The Ravens have a pair of two great guards to help out with their running game. If it wasn’t for injury, Ben Grubbs may have also made this list. Yanda has performed well this season and without a doubt earned this pro bowl honor.

Biggest Snub: CB Lardarius Webb

It’s hard to go to the pro bowl as a quarterback when you’re in the same conference as Darrelle Revis and Champ Bailey. They’re a lock for the top two spots almost every year and Jonathan Joseph was lucky enough to slip into the third spot. Webb has played incredibly this season a deserved a pro bowl spot more than Ray Lewis or Ed Reed. It’s a shame that he didn’t make the cut but if anything, it will give him motivation to make it next year.
