Mel Kiper Has Ravens Taking Peter Konz

Ray Lewis coming back makes me like this pick more, so I’m sticking with it. As I’ve said before,Matt Birk will need a replacement at center, and Konz is the best one in the draft. He’s like a good quarterback out there, able to call the defensive looks, and will be a big help to Joe Flacco. The Ravens were a mess up front for portions of 2011 and will need to add help there. – Mel Kiper

ESPN’s Draft Guru Mel Kiper has the Baltimore Ravens selecting Wisconsin’s Peter Konz at 29 overall. Konz will help the Ravens as he can play guard or center. If they can’t re-sign Ben Grubbs, Konz could start at guard next season and eventually take over the center role when Matt Birk retires.

Peter Konz is a great pick because his versatility will help the Ravens bolster the interior line for years to come. As pieces come and go, he could switch around while still remaining effective.
