With Ben Grubbs signing with the New Orleans Saints today, the Baltimore Ravens will need to get a guard to replace him. Evan Mathis looks to be the answer. The 3o year old veteran was in Baltimore today speaking with Ravens officials and he will remain in town tomorrow. It was also rumored that Mathis had dinner with Ozzie Newsome and company. With so much time spent in Baltimore, it looks more than likely that Mathis will end up playing there.
Mathis hasn’t been a reliable starter since this past year with the Eagles where he shined. While he’s no Ben Grubbs, he should make the transition smooth. Adding another offensive lineman is key for the Ravens right now as it will solidify the line and not put as much pressure on younger players. Signing a player through free agency is also much less risky than drafting a player as you already have an idea of what their skills are.
