After a few months of little or no activity, the Ravens have finally begun their voluntary offseason conditioning program. Over 40 players showed up for the workouts on Monday. It’s been over two years since workouts were held this early as last year’s lockout prohibited contact between teams and players. Now, younger players will have more time to grow and get better for next season.
Many players attending are expected to battle for starting positions that were vacated by offseason departions. One role that needs to be filled is the outside linebacker position once held by the now San Diego Charger, Jarrett Johnson. Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle, and Albert McClellan are looking to fill that position. Additionally, Anthony Allen and Damian Berry look to fill the number two running back spot left by the now retired Ricky Williams.
The mandatory workouts don’t begin until summer so don’t expect to see all the players at the Ravens’ facility until then as most veterans prefer to work out on their own.
