Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Michael McAdoo tore his Achilles tendon during an OTA practice on Thursday. He underwent surgery on Friday to repair the tear. McAdoo is the second Baltimore Raven to tear his achilles tendon this offseason after thee reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Terrell Suggs, tore his achilles shortly after the NFL Draft. Suggs hopes to come back later during the season, but McAdoo will likely miss the entire 2012 NFL season.
Michael McAdoo was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Ravens last year, but spent the entire season on IR with a knee injury. The UNC product was expected to compete for playing time at the outside linebacking positions vacated by Jarrett Johnson, now with San Diego, and the previously mentioned Suggs, who will miss the majority of the 2o12 campaign.
This hurts the Ravens as they lose even more depth at the linebacking position. However, rookie Courtney Upshaw, Paul Kruger, and Sergio Kindle look ready to step into starting roles, and help the Ravens maintain their strong defensive integrity.
