Today the Eagles released sacksmith Jason Babin in order to dump salary and get a look at their younger guys in preperation for a complete house cleaning this coming offseason. Babin has a salary to large for the Ravens to take in right now, but if he clears waivers they should pounce on him immediately.

Babin would step in as a DE pass rusher for the Ravens and would immediately give them a big boost in their sack numbers. He is the type of player the Ravens desperately need right now with Suggs not at 100%. He isnt a great run defender, but he would mainly be used in passing situations. If he clears waiver the Eagles will be paying his salary for the season anyway so Babin will be free to essentially choose any team that wants him. that team would sign him for the veteran minimum and the Eagles would pay the difference to keep his salary at what they had him signed for. a 1 year deal with the Ravens makes a ton of sense for both sides. the Ravens get a pass rusher just in time for their playoff push and Babin gets a chance to make a run at the super and then re-enter free agency in his prime. its a win-win. We will know soon if Babin cleared waivers, if he does, expect the Ravens to make a strong run at him.
