Dumervil Signing Is Even Cheaper Than it Looks

Origionally it was reported that Dumervil signed a deal of 5 years worth a max of 35 million. It turns out the phrase “a max of” was vastly under-rated as part of the story.

Dumervil has a ton of incentives worked into his deal and it actually translates to a 5 year 26 million deal. That means that he is making 46% of what Paul Kruger is making for the Browns. Is there any question as to why the Ravens have won 2 Super Bowls and been to 5 straight playoffs and the Browns are the Browns?

This deal goes from being a great signing and a slight bargain, to being the best signing of free agency and an insane bargain. Dumervil is essentially making 5.2 million per year. Incredible value.

Deals like this are what separate the contenders from the rest of the herd. Deals like this make Ozzie Newsome the best GM in sports.
