BAM! Just like that the Ravens have gone from free agency losers to free agency winners as they made one of their bigger signings in the past 10 years in signing Dumervil.

Dumervil was by far the top player left on the free agent market and he just happened to fill a big need for the team. The Ravens made a big move by not only going after him, but managing to wrestle him away from Denver.

The Deal is a 5 year deal worth a max of 35 million. for those of you keeping score at home, that is 1 million less per season than Paul Kruger signed for. Dumervil is a substantially better player than Kruger. One other thing to make this deal a huge signing, last time Dumervil played for Ravens LB coach Don Martindale, he led the NFL with 17 sacks despite not having anyone to rush the passer opposite him.

In my estimation(and in the estimation of Rotoworld) the Ravens now have the best outside pass rush group in the NFL.

The Deal will pay Dumervil 8.5 million in his first season including a 7.5 million signing bonus. his cap number is a very reasonable 2.5 million which means tha Ravens still have room to sign other bargain free agents(yes I am classifying Dumervil as a bargain, he was set to make almost twice this much before he agreed to restructure his deal which resulted in the fax snafu that ended in his release).
