Here is a fun story for you, Joe Flacco is about to be a movie star…sort of.

Yesterday it was announced that Joe would be playing The Baltimore football legend Johnny Unitas in the upcoming movie “Unitas We Stand”. Joe will only be on screen for a small portion of the film where he will portray Johnny U while on the field in the final scenes of the movie, which will be the Championship against the Giants.

“I’m excited and honored by the opportunity to play Johnny Unitas,” Flacco said in a statement on the film’s official site.

Johnny Unitas’ son, Joe Unitas, who has always been a big supporter of Joe Flacco, Had this to say.

"Obviously, the Baltimore ties are very important to me,” Joe Unitas told the newspaper. “I think it’s great that Joe just won the Super Bowl with theRavens and was Most Valuable Player in the game. A lot of the way Joe plays and his demeanor reminds me a lot of my dad. He’s not a rah-rah guy. He throws a touchdown and maybe there’s a little fist pump. … (Flacco) does things the right way and is a good role model for kids and he gets what hard work is and does everything he can for the team. There are a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Joe and my dad."

Flacco will finish filming in plenty of time to attend training camp.

I think this is a pretty awesome move. Flacco gets a little notoriety and they keep it in the family so to speak by getting a Baltimore football player to portray a Baltimore Football player. The Ravens have a precious opportunity to grow their brand right now fresh off their Super Bowl title, Things like this and Jacoby Jones being on Dancing With The Stars are great for the franchise. I can’t wait to see some set pictures this summer!
