When The Ravens cut Vonta Leach a few weeks ago, there was a rumor that they would like to re-sign him at a lower cost and would be a player if the market for Leach was weak. At the time it didnt seem very likely. The Dolphins were heavily interested and the Texans wanted him back as well. It looked as if Leach would have a deal by the end of the week.

nearly 3 weeks later, Leach is still a free agent, and his options are looking less and less appealing. He has drawn interest from the Texans, Dolphins and Giants, but no team has made a substantial enough offer for Leach to be interest in signing immediately. Today we are starting to learn that the Dolphins might no longer be interested. They reportedly wanted to finallize a deal last week if they were going to sign Leach. If the Dolphins are out, that just leaves the Giants and Texans. The Texans currently have almost no cap space and would almost certainly have to release someone to offer Leach more than the Ravens are offering(somewhere around 2 million per year). The Texans have just over 2.5 million in cap space. a 2+ million  contract would eat virtually all of that. a dangerous line to tow. That leaves just The Giants.

Dont rush too fast to put Vonta in blue though, because the Ravens have reentered the fold and are pursuing Leach once again. Leach could be the next of many Ravens to want to hit the market, only to find out that they aren’t worth as much as they thought they were. many times, those players re-sign. Its the same thing that happened to Ray Lewis in 2009.

It may just be that the pay cut he walked away from, was the best deal all along.
