5 Ravens Feeling the Heat, Post-Minicamp Buzz

Welcome to lunchtime links, where we round up all the latest Ravens news from around the web in one convenient place for your consumption.  Today we bring you 5 Ravens feeling the heat this summer, some post-minicamp buzz, and Chris Canty is disappointed in his performance last season (aren’t we all!).

Clifton Brown at CSN Baltimore brings us 5 Ravens who he believes are feeling the heat this summer prior to the opening of training camp.  It is quite obvious that Ray Rice is feeling some heat, but Brown believes most of the pressure lies on Gary Kubiak and the offense.  I would also add Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs to the list and hope they are feeling it as well.

Chris Canty is another guy who should be feeling the heat after his poor play last season, and he appears to be just as disappointed as everyone else.  Canty played a major role in the Giant’s 2011 Super Bowl run but has been in pretty sharp decline since.  While still a decent run stuffer, the Ravens need him to step it up this year and help develop the young talent along the defensive line.

Jason Marcum at the Bleacher Report is rounding up all the post-minicamp buzz.  Aside from the depth chart at running back and cornerback, we are interested in seeing how the Ravens plan to use their newfound glut of talent at the linebacker, wide receiver, and tight end position going into training camp.

And speaking of tight end depth charts, Shehan Peiris at the Bleacher Report is bringing us just that, along with a full position breakdown.  We fully agree that Pitta is a huge breakout candidate for 2014 and believe that he will post some monster numbers.  The interesting thing to see is how Owen Daniels will be used and how his numbers add up at the end of the year.  He isn’t the Owen Daniels of old but he still has some gas left in the tank.

Finally, Aaron Wilson at the Baltimore Sun tells us that undrafted rookie Nick DiMarco is excited to get a shot with the Ravens after earning a roster spot post-minicamp.  DiMarco had a nice career as a pass rush specialist at William Penn University (the Fighting Statesmen!) and might have a shot with the Ravens if he shows the ability to get to the quarterback in training camp.
