The Ravens have expressed a great deal of confidence in Ray Rice this offseason, and Rice has responded by showing up to camp in great shape. Reports on his camp performances noted that he looked fast to the edge and leaner. Specifically, Rice has dropped 20 pounds from his 2013 playing weight, which topped out around 225 pounds.
Joe Flacco took notice, telling the Baltimore Sun “I think we’ve looked really good and (Rice) has done a great job of pressing, cutting, getting in there and having the explosion afterward. He’s shown a lot.”
Flacco is the latest to notice a big physical change in Rice over last year, joining Jim Harbaugh and even Rice’s trainer. It’s good to see him healthy and running hard, especially in light of his recent legal woes. While no one would blame him for letting his problems get to him, he is obviously motivated on the football field.
