As if we needed any reminders that Haloti Ngata is a physical specimen, along come a couple of videos that prove it.  The big man has shed some fat and toned up this offseason in an attempt to be more durable and achieve his personal goal of 10+ sacks.  We won’t argue with him, at least not to his face.

The first video comes from Haloti Ngata’s brother Vili, and shows the defensive tackle playing around with a 150 pound dumbbell like you or I might with a bottle of water.  He even rolls to the ground while keeping it in the air.

Our second video comes from ASAP Training and shows Ngata dunking a basketball from what is essentially a standing start.  Ngata only needs to take one step and a short hop to reach the goal.  That is very impressive for a guy who measures in at 6’4″ (take it from a guy who is 6’3″ and can barely dunk with a running start).

If these videos are any indication of Ngata’s conditioning, I think it’s safe to say that his preparation this offseason is great.  He is motivated by last season’s “failure” and he knows that he is the leader of this defense.  Along with Ray Rice, he appears to have taken it in stride and used the naysayers as motivation to come back better than ever.

Ngata is one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the NFL, and despite his slight decline last season he is a good candidate to bounce back.  If you disagree with that sentiment, just make sure you don’t do it to his face.
