Stock up: Pernell McPhee
McPhee has been on most people’s radar for a while now, and he appears primed to make an impact this coming season as a situational pass rusher. McPhee’s emergence was on full display against the Redskins, as he continued to generate pressure no matter where he lined up. Even when the Redskins double teamed McPhee, he was still able to get in the backfield consistently.
McPhee has improved in each game of the preseason so far, and is obviously an ascending player. Some were skeptical when he revealed his goal for 2014 was to achieve double digit sacks, but who’s doubting him now? We don’t doubt that McPhee is capable of reaching that goal, and it seems like the only real obstacle he might face is playing time.
