Preview: The Ravens and the Steelers are two teams that share a great rivalry, and both finished last season in a similarly disappointing fashion.  In week one of this season, the Steelers barely squeaked by the Cleveland Browns, 30-27.  Ben Roethlisberger threw for 365 yards in the win with one touchdown pass and one interception, while running back Le’Veon Bell racked up 21 carries for 109 yards (5.2 avg) and one touchdown on the ground.

The Steelers let a 24 point lead evaporate and needed a last gasp drive and 41 yard field goal to secure the victory.  A furious rally by the Browns in the second half was almost enough to secure their first victory in Pittsburgh in 11 years, but it was largely aided by a Steelers team that seemed content while squatting on it’s lead.

Meanwhile, the Ravens came out firing duds on offense against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday on their way to a 23-16 loss.  It was the first win by the Bengals in Baltimore of the Andy Dalton era, and despite the score never really seemed close.  The Ravens went into the second half down 15-0, but found enough continuity on offense to briefly take the lead after a Justin Forsett touchdown and a huge, 80 yard play to Steve Smith.

Briefly, because the Bengals regained the lead a mere 48 seconds later after Andy Dalton connected with A.J. Green for a 77 yard touchdown pass that gave them the lead for good.  A last ditch effort by the Ravens in the fourth quarter ended with two consecutive sacks on Joe Flacco to end the drive and the game.  A total of nine drops by Ravens wide receivers played a large role in the loss.

Don’t expect Joe Flacco to throw 62 passes against the Steelers, as he did against the Bengals.  And don’t expect the Ravens to ignore the ground game again, either.  The Ravens will ultimately play a much better ballgame against the Steelers, but it’s hard to have much faith after the offense looked downright dysfunctional in week one.  It might take another week to iron out the kinks.

Betting Line: Ravens -3, O/U 43.5

Prediction: Steelers 20, Ravens 17
