Baltimore Ravens left tackle Eugene Monroe returned to practice on Thursday, exactly 22 days after he went under the knife for knee surgery.  Canty joins a slew of injured Ravens who resumed practice yesterday, including Timmy Jernigan, Terrence Cody, and Kelechi Osemele.

It is unclear if Monroe will be able to play on Sunday against the Falcons.  Undrafted rookie free agent James Hurst has started in Monroe’s place for the last two weeks and has generally and predictably struggled.  Getting Monroe back on Joe Flacco’s blind side would be a boon for the Ravens.

The Falcons don’t exactly have an elite pass rush, so the Ravens might be better off letting Eugene Monroe practice and get back into game shape for week eight’s pivotal road game against the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals.  The Ravens are currently in 2nd place in the division.

Monroe is a former Pro Bowler who mostly struggled through the season’s first few games before going under the knife.  His presence will be needed down the stretch as the Raven’s schedule intensifies.  The team knows that a healthy Eugene Monroe is going to be key to their postseason run, so they will likely take things slow with him this week.
