After correctly picking the outcomes of the last three consecutive Ravens games, it appears that Las Vegas is on a hot streak. Considering how two of the three were losses and this week is a predicted loss, we were hoping for a little less accuracy.  The good news is the line has dropped to 3 1/2 after opening higher, a development that took place following the Saints home loss to the Bengals last week.

That spread is actually the third lowest in the NFL this week, which is probably more of an indication of lessening faith in the Saints rather than increasing faith in the Ravens.  Though the Ravens managed to take care of the Titans at home before going on a bye, their recent performance has been less than encouraging overall.  Not the kind that instills faith in the possibility that they can hand the Saints a third straight loss.

The 50 point total of this game is second only to the 50 1/2 point assigned to the Colts/Jaguars game, though in this case Vegas expects the Ravens to put up some points as well.  That’s a good bet against what has been a sieve of a Saints defense, especially against the run.  We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the Ravens pound the rock this week and keep Brees off the field.

Ultimately, we think that Vegas’ prediction will prove to be pretty accurate.  I don’t like the Ravens in this road spot, but I must say they still have a good chance at pulling off the upset.  This is a game that will ultimately rest on the Raven’s defense and their ability to keep the Saints from scoring points on chunk plays.  Joe Flacco has demonstrated time and time again he can’t throw his way back from a big deficit.
