Welcome to the Daily Caw, where we round up all the latest Ravens news and notes from around the web.  Today we reflect on Will Hill’s breakout game against the Saints, Justin Forsett sets yet another career best, the defense is in championship form, and the Smiths seem to be well rested after the break.

Will Hill Breaks Out

To the surprise of no one, Will Hill is emerging as a star in the secondary for the Baltimore Ravens.  Hill has been improving each week, and we were simply waiting for him to truly break out.  And he did on the national stage of Monday Night Football, sealing the Raven’s win over the Saints with a pick six of Drew Brees.  It capped off an excellent performance in which Hill shut down star tight end Jimmy Graham in coverage.

Ravens Balance Should Show up in Playoff Run

Perhaps the biggest strength the Ravens have is their offensive balance which was on full display Monday night.  Combine a dominant offensive line with a rejuvenated running back and an efficient passing game, and you have a recipe for success.

Ravens Defense Back in Dominant Form

Even though the Ravens’ defense gave up 525 yards and 27 points, they still managed to effectively look dominant against the Saints.  Don’t let the final score fool you, as much of that production came in garbage time with the game already out of hand.

Ravens Control Their Playoff Destiny

The Ravens’ biggest issue right now is their mediocre conference record, but they can really help their chances of making the playoffs in the next couple of weeks.  If they can beat the Chargers next week, they move into the six seed in the AFC.

Justin Forsett Sets Another Career High

Justin Forsett’s dream season continues to get better, and he is only improving down the stretch.  Against the Saints, he had another career best performance in what is quickly becoming a trend for the former journeyman.

Steve Smith Brings the Nasty

The bye week certainly seemed to do Smith a lot of good as he put in a nice performance against the Saints.  He was also as nasty as ever, getting into a number of scuffles on the field.
