As we count down the days until the “official” opening of free agency, speculation is flying about where all the NFL’s free agents will ultimately sign.  The Baltimore Ravens free agents of 2015 include the likes of Torrey Smith, Justin Forsett, Owen Daniels, and Pernell McPhee, among others.  While we often only guess whether or not a player will stay with their team or leave, Pro Football Focus is going the extra mile and predicting what team these players will sign with.

A panel of seven experts at PFF provided their best guess as to where the most coveted free agents will land next week.  Among them, five out of seven are predicting that Pernell McPhee signs with the Colts, with the other two picking the Titans and the Lions.  The Ravens to Colts pipeline is indeed strong so long as Chuck Pagano is head coach, and the team desperately needs d-linemen.  Couple that with the Colt’s judicious amount of cap space, and this outcome makes a lot of sense.

The predictions for Torrey Smith are all over the map.  Two experts guess that the Browns will land him, but the others had votes for the Panthers, Ravens, Patriots, Jets, and Dolphins.  Any one of those teams is a possibility, as all are in the hunt for wide receiver help.  We would think that the Panthers are less likely with the presence of a similar player in Kelvin Benjamin and a lack of cap space, however.

Justin Forsett is almost a lock to return to the Ravens, as six of the seven panelists peg him to return to Baltimore in 2015.  One guy picked the Cowboys as a landing spot since they are likely to lose DeMarco Murray in free agency.  Perhaps the Falcons aren’t as interested as the latest reports indicate them to be. Regardless, the Ravens are still the favorite to retain the shifty back’s services for at least one more year.

Owen Daniels is another favorite to return to Baltimore, even though his old pal Gary Kubiak is now in Denver.  Four out of seven panelists picked the Ravens, while the others voted for the Broncos, Jets, and Dolphins.  Even though Daniels has never played for anyone other than Kubiak, he carved out a role with the Ravens that he won’t likely be handed elsewhere.

If you feel like the guys at PFF are wrong, you’ve got a chance to prove it.  You can win a shot at a year’s subscription to their excellent premium stats by emailing in your list of predictions and beating them at their own game.  You’ve got until the day before free agency starts, March 9th, to get your list in.
