Ravens: Making the best of 2015 season

facebooktwitterreddit

Nine (9) games. Two (2) wins and seven (7) losses. Five (5) of seven (7) losses by a difference of less than the score of one (1) touchdown.

One disappointing season to celebrate 20 seasons in Baltimore.

And there are still seven unpredictable weeks to go as of this writing.

I’ve been a Ravens fan since before a logo and a name was decided upon. I’ve lived through the 4-12 season, 6-10 season (twice), 6-9-1 season, 5-11 season, and 7-9 season. I’ve lived through the Kyle Boller era. I’ve seen my share of dark days in the Ravens 20 seasons and I am living just fine through this abysmal season that it’s been. So after being through all of that, seeing this chart by Business Insider, depicting the playoff chances of all 32 teams as of the end of week 10, I wasn’t surprised at all.

As you see, the Baltimore Ravens are statistically out of the playoffs with less than a 5% chance to make it in.

As it currently stands, the Ravens would have to win the next seven (7) games while the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, all who are ahead of the Ravens, would have to win no more than four (4) games each.

Unlikely. Not impossible, but unlikely.

So, as a fan, what do you do? How do you care? How do you still get excited about Sundays and confidently wear your purple on Friday’s and deal with the jeers and ridicule from those “haters”?

Easy. You simply do it with “effort!” That’s what #52 would tell you to do. So put your “effort” into the following:

  • Celebrate the small victories, on-field or off-field
  • Pay attention to draft prospects who could be “future Ravens”
  • Enjoy the fact that we are NOT in the basement of the AFC North
  • Cheer on any and all opponents of the Patriots and Steelers
  • If all else fails, we won against the Steelers in Pittsburgh, and at home in front of Ray Lewis

So with that said, #GoRavens
