As the Baltimore Ravens prepare to play their division rival, the Cleveland Browns, they need to start preparing to face a different starting quarterback than planned.

More from Ebony Bird

According to multiple reports, the Browns placed Robert Griffin III on injured reserve on Monday following an injury sustained in week one against the Philadelphia Eagles. Griffin came out of the game after a hit by rookie corner back Jalen Mills. Griffin later returned to the game and finished out the losing effort.

Unfortunately for the former rookie of the year, doctors found that he broke his collar bone. Both the Browns and Griffin wanted this season to rebuild the young quarterbacks career, but now, it looks like he won’t make it back to the field this year. Josh McCown gets the start week two against the Ravens.

I feel for Griffin. He never returned to the same form after a terrible knee injury at the end of his rookie season. Then, he was rushed back into the lineup early, and never looked fully comfortable. Last season, he ended his tenure with the Redskins never seeing the field.

With the once promising talent out of the lineup, the Browns turn back to McCown who has been successful against the Ravens in the past. Last season, it was McCown that led Cleveland to a 33-30 overtime victory in Baltimore. He threw for 457 yards that game.

Hopefully, the Ravens get up and strike some revenge into the Browns after last season’s home loss. The Philadelphia Eagles sacked Griffin three times during week one. After the Ravens impressive showing this weekend, the Ravens defense will hit McCown more times than any other quarterback.
