The Baltimore Ravens Are Their Own Worst Enemy. They’re Beating Themselves Week In And Week Out.

The Baltimore Ravens have a major problem. The Baltimore Ravens have allowed the hard way to be acceptable. A 15 penalty game should be unacceptable. For John Harbaugh’s team, it’s just standard operating procedure.

How many games do you lose, after a 10-0 start? How many times can you bang your head against the wall? It’s almost like they have to take the road less traveled, the one less traveled for a reason. Today was pure mediocrity. The Ravens lost their third straight game and they did it to a team that lost their past three games. Baltimore could have kept rolling. Instead they shot themselves in the foot.

It’s like a broken record. Every week the Ravens give the officials a flag throwing workout. Every single week, the Ravens leave points and chances to score on the field. One week it’s dropping touchdown passes, a fake field goal and a fumbled away interception; the next it’s failing on a fourth and goal, having a delay of game on the final drive and forgetting to cover Odell Beckham Jr.

The defense gave the Ravens a strong start to the game. The Giants are going to have big plays. Big plays are sometimes Big Blue’s only offense. The Ravens defense got gassed by the Giants no huddle approach. The Ravens secondary did more running than they have all season long. When the offense can’t stay on the field, you have a problem.

When this game was over, what were Ravens fans supposed to feel? It’s getting kind of hard to take this team seriously. Every single time this team takes a step forward, they take three steps back. This is the most frustrating loss of all time for the Ravens. That’s saying something because the Ravens fired their offensive coordinator last week.

This frustration is getting old:

When this season began I couldn’t imagine life on the other side of the Harbaugh fence. When the clocks struck all zeroes, I had to wonder if life is better on the other side. It just seems like we are at a stand still. We can’t go forward because we do nothing right. The Ravens are undisciplined and the Ravens are their own worst enemy. It’s not time to fire Harbaugh. The idea just crept into everyone’s head today. Steve Bisciotti believes in continuity, but he also believes in accountability. It isn’t melting yet, but Harbaugh’s seat is getting warm.

Things have to change. Harbaugh has to look in the mirror? Do you remember when Harbaugh’s dog house was infamous? Do you remember that. This kind of thing was once unacceptable. Now it happens every week. Everyone puts a puzzled look on their face, like they have no clue why the same thing is happening. Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity is getting really tested here.

The Ravens don’t get a pass for all the injuries. They do this when they’re completely healthy. The Ravens don’t get a pass for anything. Self inflicted errors are killing this team. The Ravens are a problem of their own design. Terrell Suggs lining up in offsides is a regular sighting. This is a leader of this football team. When your leaders are doing it, everyone is doing it. That is on coaching. That is one hundred percent something Harbaugh has to put an end to.

The Ravens have talent. They have played great defense for most of the season. This team has weapons. They have a accomplished quarterback. Most of all they have a Super Bowl winning head coach. They have one of the most accomplished coaches in the NFL. It’s time for him to step up and fix things. We’re running out of fingers in the blame game. Harbaugh has to validate his past successes by creating new ones.
