The Baltimore Ravens may have been shocked to see the top three receivers go off the board in the top 10 picks. They must target JuJu Smith-Schuster in the second round:

The Baltimore Ravens added to their secondary. That’s a good thing too. The Ravens have to defend Antonio Brown twice per season against the Steelers. They have to defend A.J. Green and John Ross twice per season too. They couldn’t fill their need at wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft, but they must do that in round two.

Smith-Schuster is the best receiver remaining in this draft class. He has the ability to come in and catch 60 passes in his rookie season. This USC wide receiver has traits similar to Torrey Smith but he has the toughness of Anqaun Boldin. That makes him the perfect fit for Joe Flacco.

The Ravens wide receiver group needs help, it’s that simple. Mike Wallace is a good receiver. He isn’t a number one wide receiver. Breshad Perriman may pick his game up in 2016 but they can’t rely on him moving forward. Beyond that the Ravens don’t have much to hang their hat on. Michael Campanaro hasn’t shown any indication that he can make it through a full season.

Smith-Schuster is a guy who can go up and get the football. In three seasons with the Trojans he caught 213 passes for 3,092 yards and 25 touchdowns. Smith-Schuster has a ton of upside. He has to be the Ravens top target, because if he is drafted he could become Flacco’s top target. The loss of Steve Smith really puts a hurt on the Baltimore offense.

The Ravens need to take a wide receiver at some point. They really should plan on doing it sooner, rather than later. If Smith-Schuster is there with the 47th pick it should be a really easy decision for the Ravens.
