Keenan Reynolds was a great quarterback for the Navy Midshipmen. Now he must become a great wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens:

Keenan Reynolds struggled in the preseason in 2016. It was clear that the fan favorite sixth round pick, was not going to be a rookie sensation. He didn’t run good routes and he had a difficult time making plays at the wide receiver position.

Reynolds was a touchdown scoring machine as the Navy quarterback. His record setting ability to make plays with the football in his hands has not translated to his new position in the NFL.

There couldn’t be a better situation for Reynolds, as he prepares to make the 53 man roster this fall. The Ravens wide receiver group is incredibly thin. Unless the Ravens add another piece or two, the Ravens don’t have much to rely on at wide receiver.

Mike Wallace is the number one receiver, though ideally he is a speedy role player. Breshad Perriman is cut from the same cloth as Wallace as a wide receiver but hasn’t become a productive wide receiver yet. It feels like Michael Campanaro gets injured every time pancakes are sold at an IHOP.

The Bottom Line:

The Ravens don’t have a ton of weapons, which could be the understatement of the  year. This means that Reynolds could make the team as a developmental player. When the preseason gets underway he has to show some sort of value. He has to contribute. We know he is a good athlete. We know that he can make people miss in the open field. Navy fans know what kind of toughness he possesses. We just have to see that on the field.

Ravens fans are rooting hard for Reynolds to go from stardom in Annapolis, to stardom in Baltimore. Here is the kicker, if Reynolds cannot make the team, with his position group being thin, that’s a real problem. This is a golden opportunity for Reynolds. When Reynolds was drafted, it gave us reason to have the feel goods. He is a great person, and he’s made a lot of fans in Maryland. When the season gets underway, he has to take advantage of this opportunity.
