Here are five best scenarios for the Baltimore Ravens this upcoming season.

The 2017 offseason has been a busy one for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have brought in four big name free agents, all at major positional needs, and they have seriously restocked their defense through the draft. All of this following a campaign that saw the Ravens miss out on the playoffs by just a two games means expectations are high.

Those expectations mean a lot of people are considering all the positive things that could happen to and for the Ravens. So what are the five best case scenario’s for the 2017 Baltimore Ravens

The 2000 Ravens defense gets some competition

Last year the Ravens defense was among the best in the NFL and at one stage was the number one ranked defense. This offseason saw two starters depart, Lawrence Guy and Timmy Jernigan, but it also saw the arrival of a number of big time players. Tony Jefferson is coming off an elite level season at safety and Brandon Carr is a savvy, reliable starter at cornerback. All of the Ravens defensive draft picks are players I believe can make on impact on defense.

There remains a little hole on the defensive line but there are a number of young lineman who are expected to make the leap to becoming starters. However, all of the newcomers are upgrades on the players they are replacing. What’s more, they add incredible valuable depth at positions that have desperately needed it over the past few years.

With all of this considered, it is hard to think the Ravens won’t take at least a small step forward on defense. I think, however, that it is not unreasonable to think the Ravens will instead take a big step forward and become the premier defense in the NFL. They could even improve to a point that they rival the legendary 2000 Ravens defense, at least statistically. If they do the Ravens should rolling towards the playoffs.
