WOW! Anquan Boldin has been traded to the 49ers for a 6th round pick. This whole thing has developed over the space of about 15 minutes. At 2:47 the Ravens were still “hopeful” of working out a deal with Boldin. At 3:06 The Ravens were first reported to be shopping Boldin. and at 3:12 Boldin is gone in exchange for pennies.

I am pretty torn about how I feel on this one. On one hand, Boldin has been one of my absolute favorite players for the past 10 years. He was my favorite non-Raven for years and then he came here and my love for his game increased exponentially. That side of me hates the trade. There is another side of me that says this is brilliant because the Ravens were going to cut him in about 3 hours if a trade hadn’t been reached so a 6th rounder is better than nothing.

You can now consider the Ravens serious contenders for Danny Amendola and I would suspect they heavily pursue a WR in the first 2 rounds of the draft. If Keenan Allen slips at all I would expect the Ravens to aggressively try to trade up for him. Boldin is a huge loss, but he probably wasnt worth 6+ million this year.

That was dominant.

Here is what I saw in the first half of the Super Bowl.

-The Ravens were clearly the better prepared team. They came in with a better plan and they flat out out-executed the 49ers and that has led to a 21-6 (15 point) lead.

-Joe Flacco has already tied Joe Montanas records for most postseason TDs and most postseason TDs without a pick(both 11). Flacco was completely flawless going 13-20 for 192 yards and three scores(one to each Boldin, Jones and Pitta). Flacco would have four if not for an uncalled pass interference on a deep ball to Torrey Smith.

-That play by Jacoby Jones was one of the most exciting plays of the year. totally awesome.

- The 49ers lack of experience has shown big time. Colin Kaepernick has looked rattled for quite some time now and he has thrown some pretty iffy balls. The Ravens D has been stifling.

-My prediction for the second half, Torrey will make a catch of 35+ yards. Flacco will not throw a pick and will throw the aforementioned TD

Some of you might remember a story broken by Yahoo about two years ago about a large number of players using a substance that was soon to be banned by the NFL. The substance was a spray basically composed of ground up Deer antler. Players sprayed the spray under their tongue where it was absorbed into the bloodstream and theoretically boosted healing time.

The biggest name in the report was Ray Lewis.

Fast forward two years and the allegations are back. Sports Illustrated is reporting that Lewis was offered Antler Spray as part of his treatment to recover from his torn triceps earlier this season. The story has started to dominate the day and will likely drag on all week.

The way I see it. Who cares. Have you read the list of benefits this stuff is supposed to have? If not, Google it. If it did all the things it supposedly does, NFL players would be chugging this stuff all day long. I am not saying it does nothing, but I would suspect the benefits aren’t much more than a strong legal supplement would be. In essence, it isn’t like Ray was allegedly taking EPOs, blood doping or taking HGH or something. this is a pretty minor thing if he even did it.

Long story short, I wouldnt worry about this.
