The defensive linemen and linebackers had their day in the sun at the 2015 NFL Combine, including a host of guys that the Baltimore Ravens met with.  While the team obviously won’t get a shot at a coveted prospect such as USC’s Leonard Williams, they will certainly have a tough choice to make at the end of the first round if they choose to go defense.

Out of the defensive linemen the Ravens met with this weekend, most performed as expected.  While there were a few surprises, no one really did anything to jump off the screen or tank their draft stock. For a team that likes to operate under the radar, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Let’s take a look at how each of these prospects performed.

Bud Dupree

Dupree made some serious noise on Sunday by ripping off a 4.57 40 time and coming in third among linebackers.  It’s a great time for a guy who goes 6’4″ and 269 pounds, and his 42 inch vertical was impressive as well.

Carl Davis

Davis ran a 5.07 40, which is not too shabby for a 320 pound, 6’5″ guy.  He also posted a 33 inch vertical and 103 inch broad jump, showing impressive athleticism for a big man.

Za’Darius Smith

Smith didn’t jump off the screen like his teammate Bud Dupree, but he still had a solid combine.  He was a good bit slower with a 4.83 40 time (12th among linemen), and posted a 29 inch vertical and 113 inch broad jump (14th among linemen).

Arik Armstead

Armstead had a pretty good day, running a 5.10 40 and recording a 34 inch vertical (8th) and 9’9″ broad jump (8th).

Danny Shelton

Shelton posted some strong numbers, including 34 reps on the bench, which was tied for second among defensive linemen.  He ran a 5.64 40 and recorded a 30.5 inch vertical and 95 inch broad jump.

Shane Ray

Ray was unable to complete combine drills due to a toe injury, even though he was initially under the impression he could at least run the 40.

Ryan Delaire

Delaire unfortunately pulled his groin while running the 40 yard dash and was instructed by trainers to discontinue the remainder of his workout.

Randy Gregory

Gregory impressed with a 4.64 40 time (good for 11th among linebackers), and recorded a 36.5 inch vertical (10th best) and 10’5″ broad jump (4th best).  They were impressive numbers for the slightly undersized yet athletic ‘backer.
