Keep Blake Bortles contained in the pocket

It’s no secret that Blake Bortles isn’t afraid to tuck the ball and run.  If he doesn’t have an open receiver or there is a gaping hole, Bortles is going to take off.  And even though teams know this, he’s had some pretty exceptional success doing so over the last 1 1/2 seasons.

Bortles ran the ball 56 times last season, gaining 419 yards (7.5 avg), and so far this year he’s logged 27 carries for 178 yards (6.6 avg).

He’s a big (6’5″, 245 pounds), fast (4.93 40 time) guy that’s hard to bring down (think Ben Roethlisberger, but more athletic).

While he often draws criticism (as many running QB’s do), Bortles’ ability to effectively run the ball and move the chains undoubtedly adds another dimension to the Jaguars’ offense.  The Ravens will need to ensure they keep a spy on him at all times.
