3. Hey Diddle Diddle

The Ravens had all but lost the late season battle with the San Diego Chargers. It was 4th and 29 and there were many a Ravens fan in complete agony. The agony turned to joy when the impossible happened. Flacco dumped the ball to Ray Rice and the Ravens running back did the rest. Weaving his way back and forth across the field he dodged every Chargers defender and got just enough for the first down. The Ravens went on to win the game in overtime and it took the improbable play to make that a possibility.

Baltimore became to love the phrase “Hey diddle diddle, Ray Rice up the middle.” The play was practically impossible. He got a short pass from Flacco because nothing was open down the field. Then he dodged Charger after Charger to get to the line to gain. It couldn’t happen again because it was a once in a lifetime kind of play.

Rice’s career ended in the worst possible way. Instead of being beloved as a Ravens legend (which he is) he is known by the worst action of his life. What he did was wrong and I’m not going to get into it. I hope not to offend anyone by putting the 30 yard reception on the list. The play was amazing and that’s the focus here.
