2. Tavon Young

This is a really intriguing rookie from Temple. Tavon Young shows signs that the light is on in his rookie campaign. He’s gotten a couple interceptions so far this training camp. Young has a chance to compete for the nickel cornerback spot and should play a role on special teams. I could see Young being a gunner on the punt team.

What is exciting about Yong is that he has ball skills and he’s not afraid to go against any receiver. Young is feisty and plays with confidence. If he gets beat, he comes back on the next play like it never happened. Young is a sharp rookie who could blossom into quite a defensive back. Here is what Luke Easterling of USA Today’s DraftWire wrote about Young:

"As the receivers seem to get bigger, faster and strong in the NFL, teams tend to shy away from smaller corners earlier in the draft. That’s the only reason I could possibly fathom as to why Temple’s Tavon Young fell all to the fourth round this year, where the Baltimore Ravens wisely snatched him up."

Young is another rookie who looks better than his draft position suggests. The Ravens will likely start Jerraud Powers at the nickel corner spot, but Young will compete for the job. The Ravens really have an energizing wave of young talent.
