The Ravens Could Lose Their Top Free Agents:

So far the Ravens have cleared little cap space, watched their top need get addressed by other teams and they could lose their top free agents. While Brandon Williams and Rick Wagner are replaceable, a small free agent yield will make their loss worse for the Ravens. The likelihood of the Ravens losing Williams, Wagner and  Kyle Juszczyk is pretty high.

This is what The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec wrote yesterday:

"“That things have gotten this far and the Ravens haven’t be able to re-sign any of their top free agents obviously foreshadows those players’ departures. It doesn’t guarantee it by any means. The Ravens re-signed offensive offensive tackle Eugene Monroe a couple years back after he hit the market. Traditionally, though, players hit the market in search for more money elsewhere.”"

I was okay with the idea of letting Williams and Wagner walk. I thought it would eat a ton of cap space, and the Ravens could use the money to sign free agents who would have a bigger impact on the team. The Ravens need to improve. Obviously things are still in the works. The Ravens could end up doing things that make their fans happy. But the key is that they have to get something rolling.

The bottom line is that the Ravens don’t have enough locked up for next season that they can simply trim the fat off the free agency market. They have to make something happen before the draft and then they have to draft well. This team needs too many things to do nothing at this part of the offseason. The Ravens have not lost Free Agency yet. There is still time, but they are falling behind.
