Yes, the team is solid, but it’s not, or at least shouldn’t be, good enough to challenge the New England Patriots for the division title. Of course, the Patriots took a big-step backwards in 2018, but nonetheless we didn’t think that these Dolphins were good enough for a playoff appearance. Can you imagine what they’d do with a real quarterback?
Whether Dolphins fans want to admit it or not, Ryan Tannehill just isn’t getting the job done. He is consistently a mediocre quarterback and has shown time and time again that he isn’t good enough to get the job done when it matters most.
Insert Joe Flacco. The former Super Bowl XLVII champion knows how to win the close games and has a fantastic resume in the post-season. A Miami Dolphins team that has talent scattered throughout the roster needs a quarterback to help them get back over the .500 mark and consistently compete for the playoffs.
Miami needs to add more pieces on offense to surround their quarterback with, but the defense is surprisingly competitive. Joe Flacco won’t win you games by himself, however he still is a quarterback who can keep you in games and get you over the top compared to others. Flacco may not be elite, but he’s good enough.
With the fall of the Patriots coming sooner rather than later, now’s the chance for Miami to seize the division and get their chance to win championships. This isn’t a world-beater team, but when you have a quarterback who’s been there before, you have to feel confident. Say what you want about regular season Joe Flacco, but post-season Joe Flacco is elite.
