Cincinnati Bengals

Draft Picks:

  1. Alabama OT Jonah Williams (No. 11 overall)
  2. Washington TE Drew Sample (No. 52)
  3. N.C. State LB Germaine Pratt (No. 72)
  4. N.C. State QB Ryan Finley (No. 104)
  5. Arizona State DT Renell Wren (No. 125)
  6. Ohio State C Michael Jordan (No. 136)
  7. Texas A&M RB Trayveon Williams (No. 182)
  8. Auburn LB Deshaun Davis (No, 210)
  9. Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson (No. 211)
  10. South Dakota State CB Jordan Brown (No. 223)

My Take: The Bengals didn’t have a flashy draft, but it was solid. They added much-needed depth at the offensive line with Jonah Williams who will immediately take over for Bobby Hart at right tackle, making a nice book-end duo with Cordy Glenn. Then Michael Jordan (not to be confused with THE Michael Jordan) who will presumably fight for one of the guard positions since they have Billy Price penciled in at center, who they spent a high draft pick on last year.

In the second round, the Bengals took tight end Drew Sample out of Washington which was a little  high for my liking, but I understand the need with Tyler Eifert’s future unknown due to a horrific injury history. Samples pro comparison is actually Ravens tight end Nick Boyle due to his blocking/receiving combination so you can see why he was a little high for me, Boyle isn’t a second round pick talent. Germaine Pratt will likely step in and fill the void left from Vontaze Burfict’s release and Wren will have an excellent mentor in Geno Atkins.

The Finley pick is pretty interesting to me because the patience left for Andy Dalton to bring a ring to Cincinnati is dwindling as a we speak and it doesn’t help that Marvin Lewis is out. If the Bengals are out of the playoff race at any point this season, I wouldn’t be surprised if Finley gets his shot. The Bengals double dipped at the running back position by taking Trayveon Williams and Rodney Anderson to form a nice rookie duo behind Joe Mixon. Keep your eye on Anderson if he can stay healthy Bengals fans.
