What the defense would look like with Gerald McCoy:

The Ravens defensive line would have a lot of defensive linemen who force double teams. Brandon Williams and Michael Pierce already command double teams. Adding Gerald McCoy to the mix would give the Ravens another defensive lineman who the opposing offense should worry about. This should help the Ravens linebackers be able to roam around the field. It also gives the  defensive line a nice rotation to keep fresh throughout the game.

The Ravens would have a fun time with stunts and blitzes, which is already an area Martindale likes to experiment with. The Ravens would have more pass rush from inside, which would only elevate the outside pass rushers. Baltimore would be banking on the idea that a dominant defensive line and a great secondary should be enough to have the best defense in the NFL. If pass rush is the key to the Ravens defensive dominance, this could be a very important boost.

Next. Lamar Jackson could be historically good in 2019. dark

This move only makes sense if the numbers make sense. The Ravens would be foolish to simply dump money at McCoy. If the numbers work out however it is a move that could help the Ravens defense. The Ravens will be fine if McCoy goes elsewhere but they could certainly use his help up front.
