2. The Ravens have strong position groups:

There are a lot of doubters of Lamar Jackson but Baltimore has good reason to be excited about their quarterback. Jackson has the ability to be one of the best play-makers in the NFL. The Ravens have a great backup situation. Robert Griffin III may be the league’s best back up while Trace McSorley showed plenty of potential in preseason play. The 53 man roster gets off to a good start with a very good situation at the most important position. It’s just one of Baltimore’s very stacked position groups.

The Ravens have three running backs who are different types of play-makers. The Ravens have three tight ends that could make the best tight end situation in football. The inside linebacker position is four deep with quick, athletic and sure tackling players. If you learned anything this preseason it should be that there was a reason Eric DeCosta didn’t just throw money at C.J. Mosley. Patrick Onwuasor, Chris Board, Kenny Young and Otaro Alaka make up a great quartet in the middle of the defense.

There is reason for concern after the top three cornerbacks, however the Ravens top three guys make it a very impressive group. Marlon Humphrey should be a Pro Bowl player when this season is over. Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr could start for most teams in the NFL. At safety, the Ravens have proven contributors. Earl Thomas is a superstar talent. Tony Jefferson is a stud. Anthony Levine Sr. and Chuck Clark can both make plays on defense. The ceiling for DeShon Elliott is incredibly high. The long story short is that where the Ravens have strength, they have a lot of it.
