John Harbaugh and the offense:

John Harbaugh is my guy. I have long defended the somehow overly-maligned Baltimore Ravens head coach. But yesterday was brutal from him. He took points off the board after the Ravens had silenced the Arrowhead faithful with an opening touchdown drive. Going for two in that moment might make sense analytically (I HATE THIS WORD), but folks were right to criticize this.

Doubling down on the next drive by going for two fourth downs inside their own half of the field didn’t help matters. It was one of the worst games I have seen him coach in his tenure in Baltimore. He looked like a kid enamored with all of his new toys and he couldn’t help but see what they could do. He stunk Sunday.

The play-calling did leave a lot to be desired yesterday as well. Greg Roman and Wink Martindale looked human on Sunday. They have plenty to go back to the drawing board about.

For Roman, why was Baltimore not pounding the rock consistently yesterday? I know they want to showcase Jackson’s throwing ability but trying to go toe-to-toe with Mahomes isn’t a good strategy for any team, especially one that is built on a foundation of a strong running game.

The Ravens rushed for 203-yards on 32 carries and four touchdowns. Kansas City couldn’t stop them. And on not one of the three failed two pointers, did the Ravens run the ball with Mark Ingram. The failed fourth down in their own territory was a pass play as well.
