Ebony Bird round table: Super Bowl LIV edition

Ian Schultz makes his pick:
After a seemingly never-ending wait, the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV Sunday evening in Miami, Florida. The Chiefs have been held under 23 points just once since Mahomes took over the reigns last season. The Niners on the other hand are 8th in the NFL in points per game allowed. On the other side of the matchup Raheem Mostert and the Niners offense have been the second best rushing attack in the NFL this season. They’ll take on a KC defense that’s struggled at times but are playing their best football. This will be a close game but I am taking the chiefs to win this one 31-26 to get Andy Reid his first Super Bowl.
Favorite Ravens Super Bowl
My favorite Ravens Super Bowl was the 2012 victory. To see what that group had to overcome after the heartbreaking conclusion to the 2011 season was inspirational. The adversity continued throughout the playoff run before the Mile High miracle kept the season alive. And it happened again when the lights went out in the Superdome. As a huge Joe Flacco supporter seeing him put the finishing touches on the single greatest playoff run ever will be a moment that is tough to top.
Favorite Non-Ravens Super Bowl
My favorite non-Ravens Super Bowl was the Patriots- Falcons contest in Super Bowl LI. I can’t stand Matt Ryan and the “Matty Ice” mantra. Seeing him and the Falcons completely collapse in that contest was fantastic in every way. No matter how you feel about Tom Brady, that game cemented his status as the GOAT and that’s a cool moment to have experienced.

My favorite Super Bowl Food would have to be wings. Give me some Old Bay wings and I’ll be happy!

Super Bowl prediction
These are two of the top three teams in the league this season, and the game should presumably play out that way — resulting in a close, tension-loaded fourth quarter. At the end of the day, I see Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes making the difference. Chiefs win this one, 31-27.
Favorite Ravens Super Bowl
How awesome is it that Ravens fans can answer what is their favorite Super Bowl? As in, there is more than one option for a franchise this young. I’m going to go with the first one, the 2000 team. As long as I live, I will remember the image of Jermaine Lewis racing down the sideline with that kickoff return.
Favorite non-Ravens Super Bowl
I was a United States Marine during the first Gulf War and was huddled around a radio at an ungodly hour in Saudi Arabia when the New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills in a nail-biter. Sure, the game was great, but the company was magnificent and the escape from our current situation was most-welcomed.
